I’ve got a few cafes to write about that i’ve been to in the past week or so since starting my Norwich lunchtime food quest. As i went in search of Secret Santa items, I was gently coerced into Mustard Coffee Bar by a friendly member staff on the door giving out samples (always a good tactic!). I was on my way to retro chic Lady Luck Boutique down the delightful Bridewell Alley. They really couldnt’ve picked any better time to canvas their palatable produce. My mission was to find somewhere different to go/try and this was a success.
On entry i was enthusiastically informed of the wonderful array of freshly prepared food. I like enthusiasm and passion. It’s a great little shop with comfortable bar-styled seating area and quirky décor.
While i was tempted by the homemade Lasagne, it was the Winter Veg Soup which caught my eye. This also came with sumptuous hot-from-oven tomato bread!
Here’s a pic of the soup so delightfully served in some retro china! It was awesome and had a warming chilli pepper kick too
Apparently their sausage rolls are particularly good so i will have to return of another lunchtime to sample.
As the name suggests Mustard Coffee Bar specialises in a wide range of coffee – which is sadly lost on me. They did however have plenty of tea options too to help satisfy my healthy obsession with the Great British beverage.
Looks like a new website is coming soon…

I too have experienced Mustard coffee bar and it is by far the best coffee that i have EVER tasted! They roast on site (while the lovely lady told me this i was thinking hmm they all say this, so i asked if i could see the roaster, to which they were more than happy to show me and there it was tall and proud) so happily convinced now i can confirm they do roast on site!I also tried some of their home cooked food which was amazing, and yes the stew was tried too and a piece of carrot cake which was the best i have also eaten by far! This coffee bar is quirky, friendly and definately what it says…i promise you wont be disapointed!

I have visited all the cafes in Norwich and this is by far the best! Both Amy and Ruthie make you so welcome they are always smiling and obviously love what they do with a passion! The food is superb and the coffee a delight! I cannot recommend highly enough a visit to this little treasure and it has become a weekly treat!

My daughter Rosie and me came across the Mustard Coffee Bar last Friday when visiting Norwich (we’re from Darlington). We called in for coffee and cakes – but ended going back for lunch as well – it was that good. Whilst the coffee and food were excellent (Friday’s special – fish and chips were wonderful), the main reason for going twice was the excellent customer service. We were made to feel really welcome by the three people working there we’ll definately visit again the next time we are in Norwich (hope that they open a branch in Darlington!!)>

Love the new table, home made as well, long and friendly.
Great coffee, grub, cakes, art work, the lot.
Missing Sunday brekkies, but never mind, we’ll still be there…..

Just visited the best coffee shop in our fine city. Friday fish and chips were as good as ever! the rainbow cake was a hit with the 2 cups of coffee. Good to see Jen covered in flour from her bakeathon which shows it is made on the premises! Keep up the hard work as it number 1!

I couldn’t agree more, Brett. I had fish and chips in there today too. I think they’re better than Mary Janes, although the Cromer fryers do have to cater to the masses!

We felt we had to leave a comment to thank all these kind people who have taken the time out to write such lovely things about our little Coffee Bar, it truely does mean the world to us to know that people get what we are trying to achieve, Mustard has our heart and soul in it and we feel like we have so many new friends due to its presence! Here’s to many more coffee’s!
